- August 14, 2026 14:59Shashwat Singh, Fundamental Analyst, Bajaj Broking, on WPI India Wholesale Inflation Moderates to 9.78% in July 2026 Amid Divergent Sectoral TrajectoriesAll India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation has accelerated sharply in FY 2026-27, registering a cumulative Apr–Jul YoY rate of 9.47% against −0.20% in FY 2025-26. In July 2026, headline YoY WPI inflation eased slightly to 9.78% from 9.87% in June and a revised 9.88% in May, with the All Commodities index easing to 110.0 from 110.2. Group trends reflect shifting momentum: Primary Articles inflation surged to 8.52% YoY (index 117.2), led by Non-Food Articles at 17.66% and Minerals at 13.28%, even as Food Articles eased marginally to 5.44%. Manufactured Products inflation expanded to 8.29% YoY (index 108.4), assisted by Chemicals at 13.12%, Textiles at 12.80% , and Basic Metals at 12.56%. Conversely, Fuel and Power inflation decelerated to 20.05% YoY (index 105.4 from 111.1), as Mineral Oils inflation cooled to 32.40% from 46.48%. Meanwhile, WPI Food Index inflation rose to 6.65% YoY from 6.14% in June, driven by manufactured food products at 8.89%.Industry margins reflect conflicting cost pressures. Output Producer Price Index (PPI) for All Commodities remained flat at 109.9 in July, as Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing rose to 115.6 and Mining and Quarrying fell to 119.4, while Manufactured Products slipped to 108.8 from 109.2. Crucially, the trial Manufacturing Input PPI dropped to 105.9 from 107.1 in June, pointing to moderating raw material costs for producers, led by coke and refined petroleum (99.9 from 113.5) and chemicals (109.4 from 112.5). Potential data revisions remain a key monitor, given the lower provisional response rate of 78.55% in July compared with 98.14% in the final May release — May’s WPI was revised up from 109.9 to 110.1 and the trial Input PPI from 104.9 to 106.5.While wholesale inflation remains elevated, driven by primary articles and manufactured outputs, retail CPI inflation edged up to 4.45% in July 2026. Against this macroeconomic backdrop, the RBI Monetary Policy Committee projects full-year FY27 CPI inflation at 5.0%, with a peak of 5.90% in Q3, keeping policy rates steady at 5.25% as it monitors near-term food and fuel price volatility amid ongoing geopolitical concerns.

- August 14, 2026 14:08Rajani Sinha, Chief Economist, CareEdge Ratings, on WPI Data “WPI inflation moderated marginally to 9.8% in July from 9.9% in June. There was a sharp decline in fuel and power inflation, but it remains high at 20%. The moderation was driven by lower prices of mineral oils and crude petroleum & natural gas, reflecting the sequential softening in global energy prices in the month of July. However, the global geopolitical scenario remains volatile and future trajectory of fuel and power inflation will continue to hinge on global energy market dynamics. The overall moderation in WPI was limited by an uptick in inflation across manufactured products which could be attributed to the pass through of higher input prices. On the food front, while inflation in vegetables and fruits eased during the month, higher prices of food grains and protein-rich items kept food inflation elevated at 5.4% in July. In line with elevated WPI inflation, output PPI inflation has also remained high at 9.6%, unchanged from the previous month.Looking ahead, inflation outlook remains exposed to both external and weather-related risks. Uncertainty around transit through the Strait of Hormuz continues to weigh on crude oil prices. Domestically, below-normal rainfall remains a key risk. Despite a delayed start, sowing activity has improved yet concerns over agricultural yields persist. Food prices particularly cereals, pulses, and edible oils remain the most vulnerable to weather-related disruptions and warrant close monitoring. The eventual trajectory of food inflation will depend on the spatial and temporal distribution of rainfall in the coming months. There could be supply-side interventions from the government to contain food inflation if required. Taking these factors into account, we have increased our FY27 WPI inflation projection to average around 9% from our previous projection of 7%.”

- August 14, 2026 13:32Gold, silver retreat as Hormuz tensions and Fed rate expectations keep bullion markets in focus Renisha Chainani, Chief Research Officer at Augmont, writes - Bullion Slips from 2-Month High as Hormuz Standoff, Fed Bets Stay in Focus· Demand and Supply – Gold and silver are pulling back as investors lock in profits after mild U.S. inflation data pushed bullion to its highest level in over two months and weakened the case for a near-term Federal Reserve rate hike. With inflation cooling for a second straight month, Fed policymakers are unlikely to feel pressure to raise rates next month.· Geopolitical Tensions – Diplomatic efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz remain deadlocked, and investors are staying cautious about the risk of an escalation that could push energy prices higher and reignite inflationary pressure.· Macro-Economic Signals – The U.S. Producer Price Index held steady in July, as a decline in goods prices offset a rise in services costs, pointing to inflationary pressure that may persist. Traders now see just a 35% chance of a rate hike in September, down from about 55% last week, according to the CME FedWatch Tool.Technical Triggers· Gold has key support at $4300 (~₹152,000). A sustained break below this level could trigger further profit-booking toward $4200 and $4160 (~Rs 149,000).· Silver has formed a double top near $66.30. If prices sustain below its neckline support of $64 (~Rs 234,000) could open the way down to $61.60 (~Rs 226,000)

- August 14, 2026 09:55Gold prices edged lower after retreating from a 10-week high: Motilal Oswal Financial services Ltd *Daily Commodities Commentary - Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd* *Manav Modi Commodities Analyst Motilal Oswal Financial services Ltd* Gold prices edged lower after retreating from a 10-week high, but, remained on track for a second consecutive weekly gain as softer U.S. inflation data reduced expectations of an imminent Federal Reserve rate hike. July PPI reinforced the dovish shift, with headline prices unchanged M/M and core PPI rising 0.2%, both below expectations, following a softer-than-expected CPI earlier this week. Markets now price roughly a one-in-three probability of a September rate hike. Meanwhile, developments around the Strait of Hormuz remain a key risk for both gold and monetary policy. A sustained reopening could ease energy supply concerns and reduce inflationary pressure, while renewed disruptions could lift oil prices and revive expectations for tighter Fed policy. With U.S. employment data and Chair Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole remarks ahead, gold’s near-term direction will remain sensitive to shifts in rate expectations, while Hormuz developments continue to add geopolitical uncertainty.

- August 14, 2026 09:28Bitcoin holds near $63,500; market awaits breakout as ETF flows slow and macro data improves Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.comAugust 14, 2026Bitcoin traded near $63,500 on Friday morning, up about 0.2% over 24 hours, but continued to lag the stronger risk-on move seen in global equities. Immediate support lies around $62,800-$63,000, followed by $62,000. Resistance is visible near $63,900-$64,000, with the $65,000-$66,000 region remaining the stronger ceiling for the current recovery.Market internals remain more constructive than the headline price suggests, but conviction is still limited. Spot taker buying has strengthened. Directional participation in perpetual futures has also increased. Funding rates and open interest remain moderate, reducing signs of excessive leverage. Meanwhile, options traders are paying less for downside protection. However, centralised-exchange turnover and broader on-chain activity remain subdued. This suggests that Bitcoin is still in a tentative recovery rather than a broad expansion.Institutional flows have also lost momentum. US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $865.3 million across five consecutive sessions from August 3-7. Since then, funds recorded a $144.6 million outflow on August 10, a $7.8 million inflow on August 11, a $61.1 million withdrawal on August 12 and at least $125.4 million of outflows on August 13. That leaves August 3-13 flows positive by about $542 million.Large-cap altcoins were modestly positive. Ethereum gained 0.6% to $1,887, BNB was almost unchanged near $611, XRP rose 0.7% to $1.01, and Solana advanced 0.6% to $76.04. TRON slipped about 0.5% to $0.334. The narrow moves indicate selective participation rather than a broad altcoin rally. The macro backdrop has improved. July CPI eased to 3.4%, while core inflation stood at 2.5%. July producer prices were unchanged month-on-month and rose 4.7% annually. This pushed the market-implied probability of a September Federal Reserve rate increase down to about 35%, from 55% a week earlier. Markets are therefore leaning towards another hold at the Fed’s September meeting, although inflation remains above target. Our advice: Investors should avoid chasing short-lived moves while Bitcoin remains below $64,000-$66,000. Staggered accumulation and disciplined position sizing remain preferable until stronger ETF and spot demand confirm a breakout.

- August 14, 2026 09:08Crypto outlook: Bitcoin consolidates near $63,500 as softer US inflation boosts risk appetite Nischal Shetty, Founder, WazirX“For the previous day’s US market, Wall Street finished risk-on, with the S&P 500 at 7,798.99 (+0.65%), Nasdaq at 26,803.03 (+0.81%), and Dow at 53,839.99 (+0.13%). The S&P 500 reached a record closing high, helped by technology stocks and softer-than-expected producer inflation, which further reduced concerns about an imminent Fed hike. Asian equities are benefiting from easing US inflation concerns and strength in technology stocks. For crypto, this creates a supportive macro backdrop through improved risk appetite and reduced rate pressureBTC is consolidating around $63.5K, with the $63,000–$62,400 zone acting as the main downside area to monitor. A sustained loss of this region would make $61,200–$60,000 the next important liquidity/support zone. On the upside, analysts are watching the $64,000 first, followed by the stronger $65,200–$65,500 resistance. RSI remains neutral and BTC is below several key moving averages.ETH is comparatively neutral around $1,885. The immediate downside zone sits around $1,870–$1,844, followed by stronger support near $1,815. On the upside, $1,900–$1,925 is the first significant resistance, with $1,960–$2,000 forming the next resistance. RSI around 51–52.GRT is trading near $0.01355, up 1.86% over 24 hours. Current technicals indicate most moving averages above price and the broader daily trend still bearish. For futures traders, $0.0134–$0.0132 is the immediate downside zone to monitor. A sustained loss of this area would make roughly $0.0130–$0.0124 the next notable support region. On the upside, $0.0139–$0.0142 is the first important hurdle, followed by $0.0148–$0.0151 if price establishes stronger momentum.”
